Preetima had passion for painting right from her childhood. She initially did M Sc in Zoology from Nagpur University in 1977 and then MA in Fine Arts from SNDT Pune in 1991. That is when her childhood hobby got converted into serious pursuit of creative art.

Besides canvases, her endeavors include Sketching, Chinese paintings, Murals, Screen Printing, Cold Ceramics and Stained Glass effect. She has participated in and also held her solo exhibitions at Pune, Nagpur, Indore and Kolkata.

Her other areas of interest are nature, trees and birds wherein she combines her knowledge of Zoology, Botany and interest in art. Being part of the Army family gave her an opportunity to travel to distant and remote parts of the country and enriched her perception which reflects in her expression through the medium of colours.
