Exhibition of paintings by Shashikant Bane at Indiaart Gallery

Indiaart Gallery (www.indiaart.com) presents a solo exhibition of paintings by senior artist Shri. Shashikant Bane. A devoted painter, Shashikant Bane (born : 1950), belongs to Deorukh, Ratnagiri in Konkan. His childhood memories of the beauty of this region and its people, known an Parashuram - Bhumi, has created a lasting impression in his mind.

His art-education at Kolhapur and then in Mumbai brought maturity to his paintings. The guidance of the master paintings of Kolhapur like Ganpatrao Wadangekar, R. S. Gosavi and Ravindra Mestry enhanced his rendering. The beauty of line and Indian Style figure of Datta Parulekar in Bandra school of Art, Mumbai, added strength to his figurative compositions. His nostalgic memories of Konkan landscape and the influence of master colourist late Shri. N. S. Bendre resulted in superb colour - orchestration and the indigenous quality of his paintings.

In this exhibition, Shashikant Bane presents his paintings in oil on canvas depicting women figures who are simple, hardworking and beautiful. His paintings bring out the colour in every aspect of the lives of these women - toiling in their fields, with their children, selling fish at the market and many other chores of their daily lives. Shashikant Bane’s brush brings out not just the colours in their lives but also the inner beauty and strength of their soul which enables them to take on all kinds of challenges head on.

On display will be 15 paintings, all in Oil on Canvas.
