Live Portrait Painting Demonstraion by Shrikant Jadhav

on 11th February 2007

About this Live Portrait Painting Demonstraion

A nature drawing demonstration arranged by Indiaart Gallery on 11th February 2007, drew on enthusiastic crowd of art lovers and amateur artists to the venue.

The demonstration ably conducted by Professor Shrikant Jadhav of Sir J. J. College of Arts, took the audience through all the aspects of on the spot drawing techniques. He initially explained the advantages and disadvantages of various mediums and expressed his own personal liking for the water - colour medium, which is one of the most difficult mediums to handle.

For his subject he selected a tree trunk, which had a colourful boguanvilla creeper growing on its branches. Whilst painting the flowers and branches he used a thicker colour concentration to give the desired effect and a lesser colour concentration for a more transparent effect in the background.

At the end of the demonstration he was surrounded by eager students, who were keen to know various aspects of colour handling and application.
