Sachin Nath

Artist Sachin Nath Born on 16th October, 1942 in Nawakhali, Bengal, senior, established artist, Sachin Nath is a self taught artist. A self taught artist who has many awards to his credit, including National level awards for four consecutive years from Mahakoshal Kala Parishad, Raipur, from 1988 to 1994. He also has thirty two group shows and eight solo shows to his credit, the last being at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai in 2004. Nath worked for several years, as a senior art instructor, at the N.D.A., Khadakwasla (1977-2002). Today he is a full time professional artist. His works are in the collection of several prestigious institutions and personal collections. Drawing and painting have been his passion right from his childhood days. From 1962 onwards, he started painting professionally. Since then he has painted using various mediums, right from oils, water colours, pencils, charcoal, palette knife, etc. He also loves dabbing in a lot of experimental styles. Making use of knife, charcoal & cut brushes he Creates a 'dash' effect, also using cotton waste, cement and whitening powder to give a raise at some places, creating an altogether different effect. Nath's large format paintings on Lord Krishna are some of his best in recent times, his penchant for painstaking details, his sense of colour and figure study (in motion) is wonderfully graceful. Much attention is given to perspective, texture and depth. Though Nath has been living in Maharashtra for the last 50 years, his art still remains rooted in the Bengal style and tradition but with a distinct stylization that is very much his own signature style of painting.
