Information The inspiration behind this work is maestro Satyajit Ray and his magnum opus, the film Pather Panchali (Song of the Little Road). This illustration is based on a famous scene from the movie which depicted one of the simple yet vibrant childhood pleasures of brother and sister duo, Apu and Durga who used to live in a small rural corner of Bengal named Nischindipur. Apu and Durga are running behind a sweet-seller in this scene while a dog is tailing them. The shadow of all the characters are reflecting in the pond below. This marvelous framing of the characters is etched into my mind since the first time I saw it which now I have tried my best to recreate by adding some flavours of my own.
This digital drawing is made using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator with deliberate minimal strokes.

This digital illustration by young artist Sagarika Pattanayak (29 years) received Silver medal in Khula Aasmaan art competition for April to June 2023
