The preparations for marriage, painting by Rajeshwari Mandal

The preparations for marriage

Shortlisted in Khula Aasmaan national art competition for children

Shortlisted

The artwork that I made is portraying a woman making preparations for her marriage. You can find a woman shopping for sarees in a saree shop with one of her friends. This painting dates back and refers to the lifestyle of people in the Mughal period.

I always read about the people during the Mughal period in India in all my history books, so with that reference, I decided to make this iconic artwork that would feature the people during the Mughal period in India.

I have used, color pencils and sketch pens to make this beautiful piece of art. If you look into this artwork carefully then you will find that I have used the forms, styles and structures of the very famous Miniature style of painting to make this artwork.

This painting by child artist Rajeshwari Mandal (12 years) received a Shortlist in Khula Aasmaan art competition for children for October to December 2020.
