Remarks

The present portrait is the personification of the mind. In any meditation practice, the Mind is treated as a child. The child is very innocent and pure. The true nature of the mind is innocence. It is curious about everything whatever it sees. Originally it is transparent and pure. It then associates with different kinds of thoughts. Three butterflies made using embroidery stitches represents thoughts. Though they are part of the painting but are separate from the canvas. Likewise, thoughts and distractions seem to be part of the mind, but the mind is separate from all those. It just becomes curious when come across thoughts just like a small child comes across butterflies. Mind is always the untouched and innocent one.
