Remarks

Alpana is a century old folk art form of Bengal. This art is traditionally practiced by the women of the house to bring in prosperity of the house. It represents artistic sensibility of peoples. It originated from a Sanskrit word 'Alimpana', meaning 'to plaster with' or 'to coat with'. Alpana is very important and is drawn as a holy pedestal while worshipping a deity. As a Bengali I love to draw Alpana since my childhood.
