Anindita Sengupta

Artist Anindita Sengupta Artist Statement :

With 18 years of work experience in the field of Media (Electronic and Print), thought this was a good time to focus on my passion for art. I currently work as a TV professional, a writer and Creative Director while pursuing art in the same breath.

A firm believer in the saying that ‘everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it’, my training in art has been mostly under my late Aunt and reputed artist, Ms. Geeta Sen who passed out from the Government school of Arts in Lucknow and further received her training from respected artist and professor Shri Ranada Charan Ukil, from Benares Hindu University. Her works have been exhibited in the Birla Academy of Kolkata.

Apart from my formative training with Ms. Geeta Sen, I have been deeply influenced by the spiritual, the untamed energy of Nature, folk art and art from rural Bengal. There are many artists who I admire but my personal favorites are HS Raza, Jamini Roy, Manjit Bawa, Claude Monet and the art form of Kalighat Patachitra, for its simple yet deep storytelling and social message.

Painting has always been my passion and I believe that passion never dies. Through my art, I often try to reach out to what is gone and bring it closer to what is, hence swinging between nostalgia and modernity, moving between the spaces of what is lost and what is real.

Although, I have worked in the corporate field for eight years and now for the last decade with the television industry as a writer and creative director, I have felt the urge to put forth and share my passion with the outside world.

As an artist, I am inspired by ‘beauty in everything’, in a moment, in a person or a place and am completely enchanted by the whimsical.

In search of a platform that will give me a beautiful window to share what I create, my dreams, visions and innumerable stories.
