Art of Cycling |
The spirit of "Art of Cycling" is to enjoy cycling, nature and do art and photography. Art India Foundation inaugurated its initiative "Art of Cycling" by organising a cycle ride at Pune on Sunday 24th July 2011. "Art of Cycling" cycle rides will be arranged on a regular basis by Art India Foundation. You are welcome to join and enjoy cycling and art in a leisurely manner (the way it ought to be done !).

Abalal Rahiman (1860 - 1931)

The earliest wellknown master - painter of Kolhapur was Abalal Rahiman who was popular as Abalal - master. The exact date of his birth is not available, however according to the elderly people of Kolhapur it was possibly between 1856 to 1860. His original name was Abdul Aziz.

Abalal Rahiman (1860 - 1931)
The earliest wellknown master-painter of Kolhapur was Abalal Rahiman who was popular as Abalal - master. Abalal was sent by his father to Bombay to join Sir J. J. School of Art. Abalal was very much pleased with the atmosphere in the Art - School and with full devotion and sincerity he tried to learn.

Late A. A. Almelkar (1920 - 1982)
Almelkar was rooted in the folk art tradition and took his inspiration from Ajanta's mural style. His water colour works are striking for their depiction of rural life which he portrayed with great feeling. His eye for details, costume and manner gave his art a rich resonance.
He achieved great harmony in expressing folk forms with a modern approach. He took great pains to study Adivasi art and incorporate it in his oeuvre.

Kashinath Bose
Kashinath Bose was born in 1965 at Kolkata. After graduation in B.F.A. from Government college of Arts, Kolkata, he worked as freelance artist and painted on wide range of subjects in diverse medium such as Acrylic, Oil, Water colours, Oil Pastels, Charcoal and Mixed medium. His art is as realistic as it is abstract, the vibrant colours, the bold fluidity of distinctive strokes all endeavor to capture the complexity of tranditionalism with the pulsating energy of modernism.

Dr. Uma Chhatrapati
Dr. Uma Chhatrapati is a doctor, dancer, painter expanding her realms into each facet. Her dramatic ability to connect one form of art into another weaving blissful pieces of work in oil seems rather enchanting. Inspirations have been taking vent through her since childhood and she has used different mediums to express the same. Trained as a Kathak dancer from age five she pursued her dance with her eminent guru Ms. Rohini Bhate - Nrityabharti Dance Academy till 1980. Having returned from the US she further pursued her dance search with eminent guru Ms. Sitara Devi from 1991-94.

Chitra Vaidya
Chitra Vaidya’s watercolour landscapes have acquired a special appreciation
among art connoisseurs who love pure transparent water colour technique.
Chitra mainly paints landscapes and her special interest is in painting
Rural life. She is also adept at painting flowers and still life. Her rural landscapes attract connoisseurs by the spontaneous rendering of clouds, trees, fields with cattle and farmers busy with their daily chores. These paintings remind the viewers of similar places they may have visited before and make them feel that they need to have such a painting for their home or workplace as a pleasant memory of their visit.

Joydeep Mukherjee
Born in 1965. He has completed Diploma in Western Paintings from Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata in 1985. He has participated in several group shows in India. He is a winner of Certificate of Merit from Indian Society of Oriental Art in 1993. He works in watercolour on Paper.
His subjects are Villagescapes depicting a river, boats and village houses. He has used yello, green, blue and other colours so nicely that on find all paintings fresh and they takes you to village.

Sandeep Yadav
Born in 1977. He has completed G. D. art Commercial and Painting in 2004. He has participated in several exhibitions in India and his paintings are in private collection in India and abroad. He is a winner of 1st prize in in Portrait competition in 2007 and 1st prize in still life competition in 2001. He has also received D. S. Khatawkar Gaurav Puraskar.
An artist of today's generation has a flare of handling watercolour medium with an ease. He has handled several subjects in watercolour in single colour black and has got very good appreciation by art lovers.
Due to nice composition and perfect colour application his paintings look lively and eye catching.
