Exhibition of paintings & Sculptures on Buddha on the occasion of Buddha Pournima
Buddha means "Enlightened One" - someone who is completely free from all faults and mental obstructions. Buddha Poornima -
Buddha's Birthday, the birthday of the Prince Siddhartha Gautama.
The festival of Buddha Purnima or Buddha Jayanti celebrates the birth of Gautam Buddha in 563 BC. The most important of
all the Buddhist festivals, Buddha Purnima is considered the most auspicious of all the days in the year. Although there
are minor regional variations in the way Buddha Purnima is observed, the festival is generally observed by lighting oil
lamps before the image of the Buddha, by reciting prayers or reading from the scriptures. Meditation and offerings of
flowers, silk scarves, incense and fruit are also part of the worship rituals. Buddha travelled far and wide teaching
hundreds of followers. Even after death his disciples continued to spread his teachings. Rich and poor alike were attracted
by the simplicity of Buddha's teaching and his emphasis on complete equality of all, a notion antithetical to the existing
Hindu caste system. The Mauryan Emperor Ashoka espoused the Buddhist religion in the 3rd century B. C. and helped in spreading
it far and wide. Sarnath and Bodhgaya are two of the most important pilgrimage centers for the Buddhists.

Vasudeo Kamath
Vasudeo Kamath, born at Karkala, a small town in Karnataka, is brought up in Mumbai. Right from his early childhood, his inclination for drawing became
apparent to the people around him. Scribbling began much before he could write ABCD. He used to draw the lines horizontals, verticals to represent trains
running on tracks on the walls and floors of the house with a piece of chalk or crayon. These left hand doodlings were the first expressions of the artist within
him.

Vijay Kulkarni
I, Vijay Kulkarni, have dedicated my life to the painting of reproductions of the world famous Ajanta
frescoes. It's my life'’s mission to create for posterity a permanent record of these frescoes which face an uncertain
future inspite of the best efforts of conservationsists.
The Ajanta frescoes are amongst the highest pinnacles achieved by Indian fine arts in its long, continuous march
from pre-historic cave paintings to the contemporary art of the present day. Enough has been written about them -
the masterful line-work, natural colours, primitive tools, the forms, the competition, the delicate delineation of
emotions. In these dark caves with uncertain reflected lighting, a whole school of painting richly records the
contemporary social mores, and in the tales depicted, the highest and noblest aspirations of mankind.

Born in 1973. He has done five solo shows and participated in several Group shows. He is a winner of
"Kalashree" award from Lalit Kala Academy. He works in Acrylic on canvas. He uses vibrant but cool colours in his
paintings. This exhibition on the theme Krishna, Love and Relationship.
Artist Says - So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see ... So long as this lives, and this gives life to thee. These
two lines always give me a source of supreme joy and consolidation among the measures of life. Whenever, my
feeling gets shaken by several phenomena of the society and my heart is aching, its love that really puts its soft hand
on my heart.
So, I think if god is creator then every person is god because they can create by their love. In my work I try to project
that supremacy of human being among the whole universe. Humanity is the creation of man and at the same time
Man evolves from Humanity - This is the theme of my painting.
