Photography exhibition opening

Milind Vishwas Sathe’s photography exhibition opening at Indiaart Gallery, Pune was graced by distinguished guests who spoke about the photo exhibition. This photo exhibition, which was presented in 2016, was titled “My pictures with their little stories”. Each photograph has a story associated with it and the same was on display.

This photo exhibition was a fundraiser for two projects of Jnana Prabodhini. 100% of the amount collected went to these two projects of Jnana Prabodhini - Harali and Educational Resource Centre. Apart from the distinguished guests, the inauguration was attended by Dr. Girish Bapat, Director, Jnana Prabodhini, Shri. Subhash Deshpande and Smt. Latatai Bhishikar, who was instrumental in setting up the centre at Harali along with Dr. V. S. (Anna) Tamhankar.

Padma Vibhushan Dr. Jayant Narlikar

An astrophysicist, Dr. Jayant Narlikar is known for his work in cosmology, especially in championing models alternative to the popular Big Bang model. He was the founder director of Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) in Pune.
Narlikar has received several national and international awards and honorary doctorates. India's second-highest civilian honour, Padma Vibhushan, was awarded to him in 2004 for his research work.
Besides scientific papers and books and popular science literature, Narlikar has written science fiction, novels, and short stories in English, Hindi, and Marathi. He is also the consultant for the Science and Mathematics textbooks of NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training, India).

Prof. Mangala Narlikar

Mangala Narlikar is Indian mathematician who has worked and taught in both advanced mathematics and simple arithmetic. After her degrees in mathematics, she initially worked at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Mumbai and later at University of Bombay and Pune. She has published a number of books and articles both in English and Marathi language on mathematics related subjects. She is the recipient of the Vishwanath Parvati Gokhale Award 2002 for her Marathi book Gargi Ajun Jeevant Aahe - गार्गी अजून जिवंत आहे.

Dr. Somak Raychaudhury

Somak Raychaudhury (Bengali: সোমক রায়চৌধুরী) is an Indian astrophysicist. He is the Director of the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), Pune. He is on leave from Presidency University, Kolkata, India, where he is a Professor of Physics, and is also affiliated to the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. He is known for his work on stellar mass black holes and supermassive black holes. His significant contributions include those in the fields of gravitational lensing, galaxy dynamics and large-scale motions in the Universe, including the Great Attractor.

Prof. K. N. Ganesh

A doctorate in Chemistry from University of Delhi and University of Cambridge, he has the rare and unique distinction of being the First and Founder Director of two IISERs – Pune and Tirupati.
