Information When I hear the word "Kaal", I am transported back to the time when I saw the fierce face of the Kirtimukh at the entrance of every Shiva temple. Judging by its expression, I always thought it was like the evil eye, guarding us from harm. But that explanation never settled with me. As I started to dig further, I found that it is the glory of Shiva and signifies how one life form is sustained only through the destruction of another. Kaal means time. This world is bound by time. The endless cycle of life and death is also confined by the boundaries of time. I added the whirling chakras around it to create an illusion of endlessness and to depict the infinitely growing expanse of the universe.
