New Paintings in the series"Call of the Hills"by Chitra Vaidya
"Call of the Hills" was conceptualised by Milind V. Sathe, who runs Indiaart.com apart from being a trustee of Art India Foundation. He teamed up with Mumbai based artist Chitra Vaidya to work on this project. Chitra revisits and relives the mystique of these hills through her paintings and takes you back to this old world charm which you would never want to fade away.
Shashikant Bane, a devoted painter belongs to Deorukh, Ratnagiri in Konkan. His childhood memories of the beauty of this region which is known an Parashuram-Bhumi, has created a nostalgia in his mind.
Preetima had passion for painting right from her childhood. She initially did M Sc in Zoology from Nagpur University in 1977 and then MA in Fine Arts from SNDT Pune in 1991. That is when her childhood hobby got converted into serious pursuit of creative art.
Suhas Bahulkar did his G.D. Art from Sir J. J. School of Art (1975) and worked as a lecturer there till 1995. His prolific work includes portraits, paintings and murals. He was commissioned to paint number of portraits which now adorn the walls of many prestigious organizations.
He has a strong sense of social responsibility and sees the artist playing an important role in art activities related to society.
I was born and brought up in India. I currently live and work in Zürich, Switzerland. I have completed my Master's Degree in Fine Arts in Pune, India in 1993 from SNDT University. For the last 16 years I have been living in different countries, among them Thailand, England, France and the US.
Yasala Balaiah an established senior artist from Ibrahimpur was born in 1939 & now resides in Hyderabad. After completing his M.A. & B.Ed in Drawing & Painting in 1962 he took up a job as an art teacher.
This multi talented artist, who is also an expert at Batik painting, at one time earned himself the nick name, “Batik Balaiah”, fascinating people all over the world with his dexterous experiments in this medium.
Her works are on canvas, using various mediums including oil, metal, wood, silver and gold gilding. Most of her paintings contain either human faces or the eternal sign of peace - The Buddha. These are used as the back-drop to the paintings of nature, which includes leaves, foliage, flowers or plants.
Kishor Ranadiwe completed his G. D. Art from Sir. J. J. School of Art, Mumbai and was priviledged to be a disciple of master artists such as Shri. Shankar Palshikar and Shri. Haldankar. He has been painting for more than 25 years as a full time artist and has his paintings in the collection of several art collectors as well as corporate houses.
On the occasion of World Heritage Day (18th April) and the week long activities being planned by Janwani at Pune, Art India Foundation organized "Pune Heritage Cycle Ride" jointly with Aranyavaak on Sunday 22nd April 2012.
This cycle ride commenced from Fergusson College at 7 a.m. and covered various heritage structures in Pune such as Pataleshwar Temple, Omkareshwar Temple, Shaniwarwada,Kasba Ganapati, Raste Wada,
Peshve Daftar, Council Hall, Southern Command, War Memorial and ended at Empress Garden.
