Born in 1920 in Baroda.
Studied at Sir J. J. School of Art. Was a consistent topper. Won several awards in the annual Bombay Art Society exhibitions. In 1949, at the exhibition of the Bombay Art Society, his entry was awarded the Silver Medal for the best sculpture.
Founder member of Progressive Group in 1948. Emerged as well known Painter & Sculptor of International repute. Spent 30 years of his life in London.
Bakre's works feature regularly and are sought after in auctions conducted by major auction houses such as Bonhams, Sotheby’s, Christies and Osians.
