Jake is a young and restless soul whose interests and passions range from Art, Nature, Cycling and Writing. In early 2008, he cycled from Ireland to India which took him 4 months. The end result of this gruelling journey was lots of written word, photographs,sketches and paintings of impressions of people and mountains along the way. 
The relative density of the net of the lines make up for the visual aesthetic of the surfaces: he calls them Flaechengedichte, a seIf-coined Gemtan word that means "surface poem" as well as "surface concentration" : the surfaces come into being due to more or less concentration of lines and they do not narrate anything nor they are dramatic. they are lyrical. They express not only a certain atmosphere. however, they play with the basic visual concepts, with the polarities like line-surface/flatness-deapth. This is a concept on that Gupte has been working on till today. Other graphical elements (like dots, strokes, straight lines) and the colour were introduced later to enlarge the sphere of the visual experience. 
This exhibition is going to be quite a treat of
'letters' for the connoisseurs of art. The various
shapes of letters Gnd a liberal and free expression
in his creations.
Every letter has its own definition but Mr. Desai has
kept this at the background and has looked at
letters as mere shapes and has tried to liberally
transform the innumerable shapes, colours and
lines. The use of vibrant colours has always been
his forte.
Childhood Memories .... Joy Forever -To Enjoy the moments with ease and pleasure are the basic elements of his sculptures. He prefers to choose the themes which gyrate around childhood memories. Climbing on trees, playing with wheel, running at the countryside, sister chasing her brother, child with a puppy have always been his favourite topics. Today when he has crossed forty, images of the past stand by his side and now he finds his themes in the childhood of his daughter. Her doll taking a nap in her tricycle, fascinates him a lot.
He is a Sculptor from Udaipur born in 1971. He has done graduation in M.A. Drawing & Painting in 1994. He works in Marble stone in different colours. He had participated in Several exhibitions in India and awarded an A.I.F.A.C.S Scholarship (State) by All India Fine Arts and Craft Society, New Delhi in 1997, 2nd Prize in International Stone Fair Bangalore in 2006 .
