Natu Mistry is a senior professional artist from Gujarat. In his long art career, he has experimented with all mediums, materials, sizes and styles. Basically being an academic painter, his work is subjective and socially related. His black and white street drawings in panoramic view were notable and were appreciated well. His canvas street landscapes in dropping style in oil were also highly appreciated. He studied Fine arts from J.J. School of Art with first class first. He was Principal of School of Drawing and Design at Ahmedabad apart from contributing cartoons to the leading newspaper Gujarat Samachar.
His painting was selected for Parliament House, New Delhi in 2001 and for Auction at London in 2003. Today there are several awards to his credit. He has written and published 26 books on Art and Drawing. Apart from several solo and group shows, he has participated in several workshops all over the world.
In this new series, he has used wood skin as the medium. In these “Nano” works, the artist has used wood skin as the base of the painting and has created the works using acrylic colours.
In an age when “Nano” is in vogue, these small format paintings are not only practical and affordable, but they make the right statement.
