| The Jar of Secrets by Rashi Jain |
The Jar of Secrets - Ceramics by Rashi Jain
This exhibition, Rashi explores the relationship between the inner and outer worlds of understanding the self and the natural rhythm of mother earth. The wheel thrown anagama fired Jar of Secrets is a contained form of her initial struggle, a striving towards perfection without and harmony within.
The hand built sculptural forms with richness in colour, smoothness in texure are a re-exploration of the circular form. The apple symbolizing core abundance and in energy, the pods and the sprouting seeds are infinite life forms in potential. The blooming lotus growing out of the mud alludes to purity, creation and expansion of the sould. Every grain of unfired earth, in the hand of the artist, is a seed waiting to burst forth.

| Shuvaprasanna |
Shuvaprasanna - Recent & Retrospective, a definitive show on Shuvaprasanna's artistic journey at Hyderabad
Born 1947, Shuvaprasanna, or Shuvada as he is fondly called, studied art at the Indian College of Art in Kolkata. His checkered career spanning over four decades includes a varied range of work as a graphic artist, painter, educator, writer and art activist. The urban milieu of Kolkata - its existential agony and survival instinct, its joys and people - the city to which he belongs, has figured prominently in much of his work that often comes in series ranging from cityscapes to clocks to crows and owls. Passion flowers with their discrete erotic undertones and divinities series of Durga, Krishna, Radha and other icons in vibrant hues with a textural use of gold and silver foil, reminiscent of Indian miniature paintings, pressed delicately onto the canvases, marked a creative breakthrough for the artist. Keen on experimentation, he continues to explore new themes, forms and media and his work comes in an assortment of media - graphics, oil on canvas, drawings on paper, charcoal and mixed media, while he has also experimented with sculptural forms and installations.
