EXHIBITION AND WORKSHOP SCREEN & BLOCK PRINTING

The renowned All India Weavers Service Centre, Mumbai in association with India Art Gallery, held an exhibition & workshop on block printing on silk & cotton fabrics. This exhibition & Workshop was conceptualized by India art Gallery to create awarness of the beauty, wealth & value of hand printed, textiles using vegetable dyes in India. An array of exquisite wall-hangings, table covers, bed-spreads, sarees, etc. were displayed.

On this occasion, a workshop of Block-printing was arranged in the Gallery. A team from Weavers Service Centre, consisting of an artist, a printer and a dye-maker explained the whole process of printing & pigment making to the participants. Right from selecting the fabric treatment, the use of different dyes & pigments & how to make the colour permanent, to actually printing & creating their own designs. Some of the participants created some excellent saree border designs, scarts and various other items.
