An Artist – in quest of inner life
To express in joyful moments, derived from an intense feeling of bliss in order to remember them, from a deep endeavour, I sought to depict them. My love to colour, brush and paper results from the effort to prove my skill. Thus, at first I liked to play with water colour. I was deeply influenced by the holy meditation of my parents during their daily worship. The mild flame of lamp and the scented fume of resin drew my thoughts to an unknown holy and obscure world that ultimately dissolved in the deep blue sky. All these feelings that came from a middle class family – environment, revealed themselves in the paintings through water colour. This expression at times transparent, sometimes obscure.
At my youth, I traveled through India, specially to see the men and their faces, drenched in holy religious feelings. Holy places of Beneras, Haridwar, Rajgir, Sreekhetra, Kurukshetra attached me immensely. The colour, smell and flora and fauna of these places inspired me aesthetically. In my world of colour, I also made the quest for the essence of old Indian Paintings and Sculpture of these holy places. Sometimes I use my brush for a change. I try to discover a surface to mix ink with water colour, so that a light can emerge from the surface of paintings. Again to keep colour under oil I draw a level in the upper layer. At this moment I am busy to make an experiment with the surface of the paintings. If same surface go round all directions or to keep constant of middle place of paintings, the surface reaches one angle to another angle or to look the front behind backside and thus to keep unchanged the place and not to violate the conditions of making picture through light and shade – I have done all in this way. I try to reveal transparent colour to mix the coarse colour with the water colour. I use consciously the light and shade with blue, grey, yellow and orange colour, maintaining the transparency of water colour.
Now when I feel the crisis of self and the world, I remember Lord Krishna, the saviour of confussed masses. Lord Krishna in the main theme of my recent paintings. In my paintings, Lord Krishna and general people are unified.
