Janardhan Gondhalekar   John Fernandes
Painting by Old Master Janardhan Gondhalekar Janardhan Dattareya Gondhalekar was born in 1909 in Amaravati in Maharashtra. After receiving his Diploma in Drawing and Painting from the Sir J. J. School of Art in Mumbai, he studied techniques and skills at the Slade School of Fine Art in London and at the Academe Julian in Paris. He also studied methods to restore paintings and art obiects at the Laboratory Centrale des Musees de Belgique in Belgium under a Fellowship bestowed on him by the UNESCO in 1950.
 
A graduate from Karnataka University with Psychology and philosophy as major subjects. Studied Art (Drawing and Painting) at 'Chitra Mandir', Belgaum for 9 years under the guidance of eminent artist and teacher Shri K. B. Kulkarni. Worked in Mumbai as an illustrator with a leading Advertising Agency for 9 years. John has painted figures, landscapes, still life and anything that he found interesting in all mediums - watercolours, oils, pastels, acrylics. John Fernandes has had several solo and group shows to his credit.
M. K. Kelkar   D. C. Joglekar
Born in 1916 at Yavatmal, Maharashtra, India. He inherited his liking for drawing, painting and crafts of all varieties from his father. In school days he was awarded a prize by the Drawing examination Board for Nature Drawing. He came to Mumbai as a disciple of a famous artist Shri. S. L. Haldankar. He stayed in Haldankar Studio and studied under his guidance for five years. He learnt technology of commercial art at Ratan Batra Commercial Studio and then worked with National Advertising Agency for a year.
 
Dattatraya Chintaman Joglekar, who worked largely in Mumbai, while traveling all over India, was a water colourist whose compositions included panoramic landscapes and architectural facets and views of urban and rural situations. Joglekar was the recipients of several important awards, medals and prizes including the Bombay Art Society.
S. L. Haldankar   V. R. Amberkar
Sawlaram Lakshman Haldankar was born in Savantwadi Maharashtra, India on 25th November 1882, He studied up to Matriculation at Sawantwadi. Haldankar passed the two grade Examination under the guidance of an expert art teacher, N. S. Malankar. 1903 Joined the J. J. School of Art and was trained under teachers like Ganpatrao Kedari, A. K. Trinidade and M. V. Dhurandhar. He was accomplished in both watercolors and oils, with a special mastery over portraits.
 
Vasant Raghunath Amberkar was born in 1907 in Mumbai. His oil paintings, aquarelles and pastel drawings are animated by a lively vision and a fine sense of observation that capture moments filled with a magical, amorphous presence. A strong Expressionist definition of figuration and compositional values underlie his work while rasa, the Indian essence of aesthetic flavour, permeates his powerful brushstrokes and smudged colour grounds.
M. R. Achrekar   Baburao Painter
Murlidhar Ramchandra Acharekar was born in Bombay, Maharashtra in 1907. Acharekar initially studied at the Kelkar Institute of Art, Bombay, before receiving his Diploma in painting from the government of Maharashtra. In the 1930s he spent two years in London studying at the Royal College of Art. This exposure to studying and experimenting with European art, its technique and ideation in an art college in London within its own western ambiance proved to be a unique experience that set Acherekar apart in his first hand knowledge of European art practice and the environment that inspired its form and imagery.
 
Born in a family of artists in Kolhapur at 1890. His real name was Baburao Krsihnaji Mistry. He earned the nickname of `Painter` due to his excellence in painting. He was a self-taught artist who excelled in both oil paintings and sculptures. His excellence in traditional sculpture is also evident in the huge statue of Mahatma Gandhi, which is located in Kolhapur. Apart from painting and sculpture he also excelled in woodcarving and other contemporary art forms like theatre and films. His film career started as the assistant to the famous Daba Saheb Phalke. Later on he went on to become one of the noted producer directors of his age.
Dr. Vishnu Bhatnagar   Nandalal Bose
Painting by Dr Vishnu Bhatnagar In a lifetime, there are some people who unknowingly leave an everlasting impression on our minds with their amazing, extraordinary creative abilities, Dr. Vishnu Bhatnagar was such an incredibly versatile human kind. He was a veteran artist who born on 7th March 1947 and passed away on 6th Feb 2006 in Ujjain (M.P.). He was not only an artist but also a contemporary Poet, Sahityakar and Writer who worked under the guidance of eminent archaeologist and artist Dr. V. S. Wakankar during 1964 to 1986.
 
The golden pillar of Indian Art - Nandalal was the most favourite student of Silpacharya Abanindranath Tagore. The major contribution of Nandalal to the Indian art of his period was that he reasserted the importance of form. In 1920 Rabindranath Tagore took him from Calcutta to Santiniketan and gave him the charge of his Art School Kala-Bhavana. A sincere teacher and sensitive artist Nandalal was invited by Mahatma Gandhi to set up Art Exhibitions for Indian National Congress several times.
S. M. Pandit  
Born in 1916, Pandit, a student of Shankar Rao Alandkar, took his diploma from the Madras School of Art and joined the J. J. School of Art. He was also a recipient of the Gold Medal of the Royal Academy in London. Pandit, who was a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, London, was conferred the State Lalit Kala Academy Award in 1983 and in 1984 was given the Rajyotsava Award.
