Chitra Vaidya’s water-colour landscapes have acquired a special appreciation among the art-lovers who love pure transparent water colour technique. Chitra mainly paintings landscapes and specially her interest is in painting the village scenes. However she als paintings flower painting as well as still lifes. Her village scenes attract the connoisseurs by the spontaneous rendering of the clouds, trees, fields with cattle and the figures busy in their daily work. These paintings remind the spectators of the places they have visited before and they like to have them in their living room as the pleasant memory of their visit. Chitr’s water colours have another special quality that is her brushwork keeps the flow of the bright colour intact.
She has completed her degree in paintings (B.F.A.) from Sir J.J. School of Art. She owes her success in watercolour skill to her Guru Late Shri M.K. Kelkar, who was the Pupil of late S.L. Haldankar, the famous watercolourist. She has eight solo shows to her credit.
Chitra recently visited Europe to see museums and Art Galleries of London, Paris, Amsterdam, Florence, Venice, Rome etc.. Her experiences there have reflected in her recent paintings presenting beautiful views of Venice. Her medium has also changed. She has used acrylic colours. The technique too shows more maturity. It shows more simplicity and ease. Her watercolours are presented in this show along with the acrylic paintings of Venice views.
