About the Artist

Chiru Chakravarty

Master of the Apocalypse, Chiru Chakravarty takes us to the horror of this world where war and brutality is an everyday reality.

Chiru gives free expression to the observations of his searching eye, critical mind and to his developed faculty of imagination. His themes seem to have the same quality of Goya in ‘Los disasters de la Guerra'.

The violent and tragic events of wars recorded by the media, are represented here, not with documented realism, but in dramatic compositions, with brutal details that create vivid effects of authenticity.

However, of abstract nature, the paintings of chiru are nightmare-visions in expressionist language that seem to reflect pessimism and despair.

No other artist but Chiru could better express the anxiety of human existence. His work could be compared to Munch in its intense, evocative treatment of psychological and emotional themes and also, to the convulsive reality of another major modern symbol – Pablo Picasso's ‘ Guernica '. However Chiru Chakravarty, gives something more to us in his paintings: a spiritual awareness of a life after death, his colors reflecting hope for a new and better life.
