Call of the Seas - Paintings and Drawings on Kokan Life.

- 'My road leads me Seawards'...
wrote the poet, and indeed the little strip of red earth, Konkan, has been calling the sensitivities of so many artists since time immemorial.

Chandramohan has been so enchanted by the beauty, of the coast and its people - in their daily struggle, their joie de vivre and even their patient waiting at the marketplace or beach, that his rendering, of the people and their fluent motions and bountiful product becomes the centre of attraction, the seascape remaining just a backdrop.

This fascination and the way he has soaked himself for years with the milieu of places dotting the coast, right from the ramparts of Harne, the bylanes of special flower-markets of Chowl and Revdanda, the bazars of Kankavali, Malvan and Vengurla have lent his figures a Shergilsque charm.

After his 2005 show Tridhara of evocative, exploratory and tragic painting the artist presents here a slice of reality, along with the studies- pen / pencil sketches as the minnows out of which the paintings have grown.
