 Vasudeo Kamath, born at Karkala, a small town in Karnataka, is brought up in Mumbai. Right from his early childhood, his inclination for drawing became apparent to the people around him. Scribbling began much before he could write ABCD. He used to draw the lines horizontals, verticals to represent trains running on tracks on the walls and floors of the house with a piece of chalk or crayon. These left hand doodlings were the first expressions of the artist within him. |

 Born on 17 July 1925 in Surat, Vasudeo was among the tallest Gujarati artists. In 1948, he took a diploma in painting, standing third in order of merit. In 1949, he was a fellow in Sir J. J. School of Arts, after having worked for a year as an art teacher at Sarvajanik Education Society in Surat. In 1951, he came back to work for seven years at Jeevan Bharati in Surat. Between 1958 and 1960, he went to the B.H.U as a scholar. |
